Parent Quote

My daughter enjoyed the experience which was new , sharing space with her friends and getting the feel of being independent. I am glad she got to experience this.

Our Year 11 and Year 13 students recently enjoyed an incredible study residential designed to support their ongoing revision while also promoting wellbeing and balance during this important stage of the academic year.

IMG 8023Throughout the trip, students took part in focused study sessions led by their teachers, giving them valuable opportunities to consolidate learning, strengthen subject knowledge and prepare confidently for their upcoming examinations. The supportive environment allowed students to ask questions, work collaboratively and develop effective revision strategies outside of the classroom.

Alongside their academic sessions, students also had the chance to relax, build friendships and create lasting memories with their peers. A range of exciting activities encouraged teamwork, resilience and plenty of laughter, helping students to recharge and maintain a positive mindset.

The residential was a fantastic experience for all involved and demonstrated the importance of balancing hard work with wellbeing. We are incredibly proud of the maturity, enthusiasm and commitment shown by our students throughout the trip.

  • Overall, I had a lot of fun and enjoyed the weekend. I loved all of the activities: Jacob’s ladder, aeroball, the beach walk, the quiz and disco, giant swing and archery! I also found the study sessions very useful as the classroom environment was quiet and allowed us to focus and revise efficiently and I also got help from Miss Dave for geography which I found very helpful! Overall, my favourite parts of the trip were the beach walk, the disco, and the giant swing; I think this was an amazing opportunity for us to cool down a bit and manage our stress before our exams as well as spend time with our friends and have fun while also making use of that time to do balanced and effective revision while not burning out. Thank you to all of the teachers who made this trip possible and gave us this amazing opportunity!!! :)

  • In the beginning, my expectations weren’t very high and I wasn’t entirely sure whether the trip would be worth it. But looking back on it now, my friends and I had so much fun at PGL and made so many memories together. Although my group didn’t get as much revision done as we probably should have, the trip ended up being more of a wellbeing experience, which gave us time to breathe, unwind from all the A-level stress, and helped prevent burnout. Overall, it was such a bonding experience, not only with our friends but with the teachers too, and we had the opportunity to meet students from other schools who we could relate to through all the exam stress. Some of my highlights from the trip were singing along to music on the coach, seeing my friends and me climb to the top of Jacob’s Ladder, going to the beach, collecting seashells, and getting along so well with all the pgl staff. I would definitely recommend the trip, but I would warn future students to prepare themselves for hearing Ms DeJong blasting music on her speaker at 7 in the morning to wake everyone up for breakfast. Very traumatising.
