SEND Sports Festival Report

Students had a fantastic day attending the SEND Sports Festival on Friday 24th April at Southgate Hockey Club, where they participated in a wide range of inclusive and engaging activities. The event provided an excellent opportunity for students to develop their skills, build confidence, and enjoy being active in a supportive environment.

In tennis, students focused on fundamental skills such as catching, teamwork, and coordination. Activities included tidying the playground, serving a partner, and catching before swapping over. All students demonstrated great cooperation and enthusiasm throughout.

During athletics, there were some standout performances. In the Nerf throw, Zara and Phebee were crowned champion throwers, showing excellent power and technique. The relay races were highly competitive, with Zara and Hibba winning their event through strong teamwork and determination. In the vortex target challenge, Lena, Allena, Diamond, Nissa, Ziggy, and Phebee all hit the target perfectly, what an impressive achievement showcasing accuracy and focus.

The football session saw students develop their dribbling skills through a variety of activities, including tag dribbling and dribbling to score goals. Diamond and Heeba were outstanding, winning the scoring challenge with an impressive total of 28 goals, demonstrating excellent control and attacking play.

In the parachute activities, students took part in fun, cooperative games such as colour matching, swapping places, collecting coloured balls, and target throwing. These activities promoted teamwork, communication, and quick thinking, with all students fully engaged.

During hockey, students practiced dribbling and shooting skills. Sakeenah stood out with some particularly impressive shots on goal, showing natural ability and confidence in her play.

Finally, in dance, students expressed themselves through movement, performing to a variety of fun and energetic tracks. They later focused on a routine to the song Gabriella. A special mention goes to Lola, who was sensational and performed with great confidence and flair.

Overall, the festival was a huge success. Students demonstrated excellent behaviour, teamwork, and enthusiasm throughout the day, making it a memorable and rewarding experience for everyone involved.
