Year 8 Visit to Sky Studios Elstree

A group of Year 8 students recently enjoyed an exciting trip to Sky Studios Elstree, where they had the chance to learn about TV and film production in a real studio setting.

The girls were chosen by their form tutors for being excellent role models within their forms – consistently positive, responsible, and supportive of others.

This trip had been in the works for quite some time (and truth be told, Ms De Jong has been very politely hassling me about it for months), so it was fantastic to finally see it come together so successfully.

At the studio, students got the chance to plan, script, and film their own short movie scenes, taking on different roles from directing to acting to operating the camera. There was lots of laughter, a good dose of creative disagreement, and a few surprisingly convincing performances.

It was a fun and engaging day that gave students a real insight into how stories are brought to life on screen—and just maybe sparked an interest in media careers for the future.
