Media Careers for Copthall Students

Posted on: 23/11/2017

Our teacher organised a study day for us with the British Interactive Media Association.  BIMA arranged for us to be partnered with Digital Uncut and we were able to spend the whole day with professionals from the Media Industry.

The aim of this study day was to promote careers in the media (in which many of us are now interested pursuing), but we actually got to learn so much more than this and show them our understanding and presentation skills. Firstly, we watched a presentation by the professionals from Digital Uncut about what they do and what jobs are available in their industry. We learnt that the UK’s digital industry is the biggest in Europe at £2.2 billion a year! It was so useful to see what jobs we can aspire to and what it is like to work in this industry.

In the second part of the day we were given briefs in groups to create digital marketing for specific companies; to help them promote their product and reach a wider audience. Our groups worked successfully, we all created original and innovative apps.

Finally, we pitched our ideas to the professionals who were really impressed and gave us extremely positive feedback. Our pitches were of such a high standard that they have been entered for the nationwide BIMA competition and we are confident that we will win!
