London Youth Games Sports Leaders Training Boccia
Posted on: 04/02/2026
On Monday 2nd February our Sports Leaders took part in a London Youth Games training session focused on delivering and officiating Boccia, developing both their practical skills and their confidence as young officials. During the session, students were introduced to the rules of Boccia, methods of scoring, and the responsibilities of an official, including measuring distances, scoring, determining who's turn it was and ensuring fair play throughout competition.
The leaders demonstrated excellent engagement and enthusiasm, working collaboratively to practise officiating scenarios and refine their communication skills. They showed maturity, focus, and a strong understanding of inclusive sport, recognising the importance of Boccia in providing accessible competitive opportunities for all participants.
The trainer was extremely complimentary of the sports leaders, commenting:
“You have a great team of enthusiastic budding young leaders. They will be an asset to LYG.”
This session has further strengthened our Sports Leaders’ ability to confidently support London Youth Games events and reflects their commitment to leadership, teamwork, and representing the school with pride. We are incredibly proud of the way they embraced the opportunity and look forward to seeing them put these skills into practice at future competitions.
