Job Description                 Meal Time Supervisor

 

Reporting to                      Welfare Officer

Hours of Work                  3 hours per day = 15 hours per week

                      Monday – Friday  10.40am – 1.40pm

Weeks per year:               Term time (38 weeks)

Pay Scale:                            SCP 2  - £9,179.55

 

Main purpose of the post:

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and exceptional individual, confident, reliable person with good interpersonal skills who has experience of working with young people to join our team of support staff.  The post will include supervising students at break and lunch time.

General Responsibilities:

  1. To ensure the safety, general welfare and conduct of pupils during the break period.
  2. All students queue up in an orderly way when paying for food. Discourage students from hanging around the tills
  3. To ensure students clear their plates, bowls and their rubbish, from tables.
  4. To keep tables and chairs tidy and to rotate around the canteen [your allocated area] during break and lunch.
  5. To ensure all students sit on a chair to eat their lunch. Chairs are not to be shared.  Bags to be kept under the table [not on] for hygienic reasons.
  6. To supervise pupils in designated areas of the school during the midday break and to ensure their safety, welfare and general conduct through appropriate application of the school’s policies and procedures
  7. To ensure students leave on time and promptly at the end of each session.
  8. To take immediate action in respect of sickness or accidents by carrying out minor first aid, as required, and recording the incidents accordingly
  9. To complete any documentation required by the school in relation to incidents occurring during lunchtime break period, and to participate in review meetings as required
  10. Desirable to have some First Aid knowledge or experience
  11. Undertake any other duties of a similar level and responsibility as may be required by the Deputy Head Teacher.

 

CONTEXT:

All support staff are part of a whole school team.  They are required to support the values and ethos of the school and school priorities as defined in the School Improvement Plan and contribute to the development of a purposeful working atmosphere. They are required to support and follow all relevant school policies including those for behaviour management and child protection. This will mean focusing on the needs of colleagues, parents and pupils and being flexible in a busy pressurised environment.

Under no circumstances should such information be divulged or passed on to any unauthorised person or organisation.
