SEND Boccia Panathlon Event
Posted on: 01/06/2026
On Thursday 21st May, a group of students represented Copthall at the Boccia competition held at Peter May Sports Centre. Competing in our first ever Boccia event, the students showed fantastic teamwork, resilience and determination throughout the day against strong opposition from across London.
In our opening match against Compton, Roberta, Eva and Anum battled hard after losing the first end 3–0. The team responded brilliantly in the second end, winning 3–0 to force a tie-break, which Copthall went on to win in dramatic fashion.
The second game saw Iman, Saio and Roberta take on Rokeby in a closely contested match. Despite a determined performance, Rokeby narrowly won after taking both ends by a single point.
Copthall bounced back superbly in Game 3 against Seven Kings. Roberta, Eva and Anum worked brilliantly together, securing a convincing victory by winning both ends and taking the match comfortably.
Game 4 against West Hatch A was another tight encounter. Roberta, Iman and Saio won the opening end, but West Hatch responded strongly in the second end to take the overall win.
In the final game against Oak Lodge, the team continued to show great effort and sportsmanship, despite Oak Lodge taking the victory.
With 16 teams competing overall, the students should be incredibly proud of their performances and achievements at their first Boccia competition. Throughout the event, they demonstrated excellent communication, teamwork and resilience, representing the school brilliantly. We are extremely proud of the team and look forward to attending our next Boccia event.
A special thank you also goes to Miss Haydar for supporting the students throughout the event and helping to make the day such a positive experience for everyone involved.
