Message from the Head Girl
Message from Head Girl Joelle Masengi
If I had to sum up my seven years at Copthall in one word it would be ‘growth’.
Although my fellow peers and I started year 7 as girls, we are leaving year 13 as mature young women, prepared to face the challenges and obstacles presented to us in the future. This is a testament to the great teachers and pastoral support at Copthall, who on a daily basis ensure that all students progress regardless of their starting point. As head girl I had been given an opportunity to give back to a school that has provided me with memories and experiences that will last a lifetime. All those who are part of the student leadership team, take great pride in exemplifying the school values of: Aspiration, Responsibility, Respect, Equality for all and Support and Safety. Not only within our school community but also representing the values outside of Copthall.
Copthall is a school that also provides an abundant of extra -curricular activities ranging from sports clubs, arts, textiles and French movie club just to name a few. As well as activities that supplement our learning and higher education prospects, we have access to fantastic opportunities including the Oxbridge programme, STEM programme, Franklin scholars. During my time at Copthall I have completed the Ort Jump mentoring programme which has linked me to industry professionals and given me a deeper understanding of the world of work. I also completed the Sky Sports: youth sports trust which has helped me build my mental strength, resilience, and leadership skills. All because of the opportunities given at Copthall.
Within the Sixth Form, a caring, inclusive and family like atmosphere has been created amongst peers. I truly believe that a positive learning environment that inspires a passion for learning, so that every student progresses at Copthall. Furthermore, it is a school that provides a safe space for students to believe that they can achieve anything.
Finally, a great part of school life are the memorable and educational trips that supplement our education, giving us key life skills. Throughout my time at Copthall I have been on trips to The London Aquarium, The London Eye, Go Ape, The Science and Natural History Museum, South End on Sea and Adventure Island.
My hope is that I can use my responsibility as Head Girl to be a role model for the Copthall community, as well as creating sustainable impact with the entire student leadership team and our excellent and reliable Senior Prefects for our future empowered young women.
