Aim

Design and Technology is an exciting subject that is always evolving. With its place firmly in the STEM community the subject is both an academic and creative, allowing students to develop valuable transferable skills such as problem solving, analysis, hands on making and evaluation. Students will make clear links between Mathematics, Science and Computer Science within Design Technology.

Students at Copthall have the opportunity to study a full programme at KS3 covering Resistant Materials, Graphic products and skills, electronics and Food technology.

Students in Years 7 and 8 (KS3) follow a broad curriculum, then if chosen as an option for Year 9 (KS4) the students reflect and build on skills, with the emphasis on specialising using preferred materials and construction.
