A Delightful Evening at the Barnet Regional Final: Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge
Posted on: 11/02/2026
We are incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Atifa A, Year 10, who represented Copthall School with confidence, passion and purpose at the Barnet Regional Final of the Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge on Wednesday, 4th February.
During her powerful speech, Atifa tackled significant social issues including stereotypes, racism and Islamophobia. She demonstrated an impressive understanding of how these issues intersect, reflecting a mature and thoughtful awareness of the world around her. Her ability to engage critically with complex themes is a testament to her hard work and the rich learning experiences she embraces across her subjects at Copthall.
Mrs Winters and I were fortunate enough to attend the event and watch Atifa perform! They heard excellent feedback from various members of the audience. It was clear to the judges and the entire audience that she had prepared thoroughly and was deeply committed to the message she delivered. Her confidence,
sincerity and strong sense of conviction shone throughout.
Those who know Atifa will not be surprised to hear that she brought her trademark humour to the stage as well. Her ability to balance important subject matter with a warm, comedic touch made her speech even more memorable and was received with great enthusiasm.
We encourage our whole school community to congratulate Atifa on this exceptional accomplishment. She has made the Copthall community incredibly proud; we look forward to seeing her continue to inspire others with her voice and leadership.
