Film Studies

GCSE Film Studies is an exciting new course designed to maximise academic outcomes for students on Pathway 3. By tapping into learners' natural passion for cinema, the curriculum introduces them to a rich variety of historic and groundbreaking films. The analytical, evaluative, and critical thinking skills built here directly boost performance in core subjects like GCSE English, while laying an essential foundation for higher education. 

A core pillar of this specification is hands-on production. By analysing diverse global cinema, students learn to apply professional filmmaking and screenwriting techniques to their own creative projects—giving them a unique, practical perspective on how film works from behind the camera.
