Maths in Action Trip

Posted on: 21/12/2023

On the 7th of December, Mathematics Department took a group of GCSE students to the ‘Maths in Action’ seminar in London.

The day included a range of talks from 6 different speakers: pattern in juggling, how to increase England’s chance of scoring a penalty, links between music and maths, maths behind online game Pac-Man and playing chess. Students had also received exam tips to improve their grades.

Students found the seminar thoroughly engaging and they were amazed to see how maths is linked with real life applications. I have included some of their feedback.
