Our mission statement is ‘Excellent Education For All’, which really encompasses everything that we as a school and in particular the Sixth Form stand for.

Excellent education means providing our students with a clearly defined programme of study with an academic and super curriculum that enriches wider participation and opportunities to ensure all our pupils thrive become confident and resilient young women. We have introduced a new programme called the ADULTS programme (Aspiration, duty, Uni 101, Leadership, Thrive, Scholarship), which encompasses the ‘Super curriculum’ offer.

The education offered in the Sixth form is exciting, dynamic, inclusive, challenging and highly creative.

It is also rooted in strong subject knowledge and an in depth understanding of the assessment requirements of our A Level courses. Our focus is academic, offering the preferred subjects that universities most favour to maximise students’ potential to progress to the best higher education courses.  We concentrate on achieving high quality outcomes and our 2017 results testify to this and students choosing Copthall will find themselves challenged, interested and rewarded.  They will go on to achieve results which will qualify them for their university courses of choice.

Our students continue to achieve strong examination results and our results in the summer were excellent. Our A Level grades were 84% A*-C which is a 6% increase from our 2016 results and 22% from our 2015 results. 20% of grades were A*-A, and 54% A*-B indicating our top end students have improved and continue to thrive. Our A Level progress puts us in the top 12% of schools for A Level grades (ALPS).

We are very proud of our Level 3 BTEC results, with the overall grade at D*, which is equivalent to an A*.

The primary aim is outstanding teaching leading to excellent grades; however we want the sixth form to be about more than this. Beyond academic studies our goal is to equip students with the skills and opportunities to engage in wider participation activities, prepare them for university and their career. We focus on building relationships with each and every student and as a result of this we personalise our offer of enrichment activities, tutorial activities, assembly, PSHE, wider participation and work experience to their interests, aspiration and goals.

Students now have a 1 hour dedicated ‘enrichment’ hour on a Thursday afternoon, enabling them to follow a programme aimed at supporting them to do just this. The first term includes a focus on a community project, where they lead, manage, communicate, present and work as a team.

From then on we encourage students to get involved in a range of clubs, societies, access to guest speakers, training, mentoring, and well-being programmes. We want our students to aspire to be leaders in whatever they choose to do and believe that our enrichment programme will help to set them apart from their peers.

Our UCAS, Oxbridge, Russell Group, further education and employment programmes provides our students with a firm foundation for future success. This year, we have introduced an Oxbridge programme, where our aspiring students have a talk from an Oxford Alumni, a visit to one of the Oxford colleges and 1:1 tutoring with Oxford alumni to support with the application process.

83% of students got their first choice university and 41% of students were offered a Russell group place of which 18% accepted.

Our Russell group university programme includes a link with Kings College London on the K+ programme.

We also have an extensive Careers programme for all students in the school. At Key stage 4 and 5 students receive a programme of IAG for future pathways including, University, employment, and apprenticeships.

The focus of our Sixth Form is on the study of A levels, BTEC and Vocational courses, which allow our students the best opportunity to progress into university and follow professional careers. We offer a range of courses in the Sixth Form. Our entrance requirements are as follows:
