Welcome to the Julia Blackman Excellence Programme

New projects starting in September 2023

JBEP LogoThe Julia Blackman Excellence Programme replaces the Oxbridge programme, to offer a more inclusive pathway into elite universities. As a school, we have a track record of outstanding achievement. The aim of the programme is to provide our students with the cultural capital they need to be successful applicants to the world’s leading universities.

Over the years we have formed partnerships with academics, companies, and universities to ensure that our students foster a passion for learning and can articulate themselves on complex issues. We strive to ensure that every student at Copthall has an opportunity to be a successful applicant to Oxford, Cambridge, the Sorbonne, or Princeton.

The aim of the programme is to create a culture of aspiration that allows our students to take head-on the challenges of the rigorous application processes at the world’s leading universities. The key goal of the programme is to provide peoples with the skills and mind-set needed to be accepted onto courses within elite institutions such as Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, and Yale. The values of the Julia Blackman excellence programme are in line with the school values of respect, equality for all, support and safety, aspiration, and responsibility. Students who excel both academically and within these values will demonstrate to university admission teams that they would be an asset to their establishment.

The programme will provide our learners with unique learning opportunities and develop key skills needed to be successful at university.

By the time students have submitted their university application they will be a tenacious debater, critical thinker, be able to demonstrate a passion for knowledge, and have key academic tools such as problem-solving and Harvard referencing.

You will start to see links to the Julia Blackman excellence programme in Copthall Connect and Epriase. The reward for students who actively take part in the programme will be a trip to Oxford University and have an opportunity to speak with Oxford students about what it takes to study at one of the world’s greatest universities.
