Stem Stories Speaker Event on 6th December 2019

Posted on: 06/12/2019

On Friday 6th December, the STEM scholar’s society held their first STEM stories event. The event provided our students with an opportunity to hear the stories of three exceptional female STEM ambassadors and welcome our new year 7 and 8 STEM scholars.

We welcomed Bianca Cefalo, a rocket scientist, whose amazing story took her from a goalkeeper in Naples to working on space probes for Mars with NASA, she now currently works for @AirbusSpace and is passionate to empower more women to pursue careers in STEM. We were extremely fortunate to have Mandi Osakonor attend, a local G.P who spoke at length about what is required to make it through medical school, she spoke about her passion for learning and how she would like to see more women claim consultant roles within the NHS. Aisha Shuaibu, spoke about how STEM has allowed her to have a positive impact on lots of people’s lives, Aisha has always combined her work in STEM with supporting a wide range of charities and currently works supporting graduates to complete their PHDs in a wide range of chemistry-related subjects.

This event would not have been possible without these wonderful ladies giving up their free time.
