"Outstanding" GCSE Results 2018

For the second year running, GCSE results are outstanding!

Copthall School continues on its transformational journey as it hits new heights with outstanding GCSE results; with English, Maths and the Humanities achieving over 10% above the national averages.

The positive GCSE results achieved by students this year reinforces Copthall’s clear upward trajectory to ensure all students receive an ‘Excellent Education’.  These results have established a strong platform for students to embark on their next steps, whether it is further education, training or employment.

Performance Measure highlights

• Students achieving 7+ in English and Maths:  14%
• Students achieving 5+ in English and Maths: 54%
• Students achieving 4+ in English and Maths:  68%
• 21 students received at least 9 grades 9 - 7
• Predicted Attainment 8 moves from 49.7 to 52.5
• Predicted P8 is +0.74 which is likely to see the school placed as an ‘well above average’ school

• Chemistry and Biology: 100% Grades 9 – 4 (90% National)
• English Literature: 90% Grades 9 - 4 (80% National)
• French: 85% Grades 9 – 4 (74% National)
• Geography: 80% Grades 9 - 4 (68% National)
• Spanish: 83% Grades 9 - 4 (75% National)

Significant improvements in our top end grades

• Chemistry: 73% Grades 9 – 7 (44% National)
• Biology: 69% Grades 9 – 7 (44% National)
• RE: 47% Grades 9 – 7 (37% National)

This year’s results are testament to the continued hard work of all staff and the dedicated students which has seen 31% of all grades being awarded 9-7 (10.5% higher than National).
