International Women's Day 2021 - Monday 8th March

Posted on: 03/03/2021

We are very proud to be celebrating International Women’s Day for yet another year. The day has become quite the tradition at our school.

This year the theme is #choosetochallenge with the focus on gender bias and inequality.

Quote from IWD website: ‘A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day. We can choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can choose to seek out and celebrate women's achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world. From challenge comes change, so let's all #ChooseToChallenge.’

Our aim this year is to celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness, challenge bias through virtual activities

  • To celebrate what it means to be a woman and the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
  • To highlight the fight that women have had to get to where we are now (raising awareness)
  • To highlight 100 years since women have been given the right to vote
  • To recognise that we still have a long way to go in gender equality and parity (smashing stereotypes and challenging bias)
  • To fight for our rights for the next generation
