Exam board: AQA: Product Design

Why choose to study Product design?

Product Design helps students take a broad view of Design and Technology, develop their capacity to design and make products and appreciate the complex relations between design, materials, manufacture and marketing. The course has 50 per cent coursework in order to recognize the importance of practical work within this subject.

Essential student qualifications/abilities:

C grade or above in GCSE Product Design

Desirable student qualifications/abilities: A grade C or above in English and Mathematics

  • Good communication skills
  • Sound graphical and presentation techniques
  • The ability to seek out information from a wide range of sources and conduct questionnaires

Higher education opportunities: Industrial design, Applied Consumer Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Surveying, Architecture, Interior and Exterior design and Robotics.
